Description

Guest guide Tanner Barnharst will take you on a paced hike where you will see all 12 of the installed mushroom exhibits and learn about the native fungi of the area. Learn about common edible, toxic, and medicinal mushrooms. Tanner will also help identify lichens and any other cool nature finds we come across. Tanner will also share resources on how to continue your fungi hunting dreams beyond today's walk.

  • The walk will be 2 miles or less on unpaved trails and some uneven terrain over 90 minutes.

  • Bathroom and water facilities will be available at the start of the trail only.

  • Eagle Bluff does not allow the public to collect and keep foraged items however fungi foraged on public lands are subject to state rules. See Mn DNR website for details: https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/harvesting.html

Tanner Barnharst (he/they) has been educating for 15 years, leading mushroom and lichen walks for 10 years, and has been a Minnesota Master Naturalist for 4 years. He published two lichen field guides which have sold over 1,500 copies in the last two years.
